I had to post a congratulations to my friend Amy who is officially the proud mommy of a beautiful, sweet, healthy baby boy (with a head full of strawberry blonde hair!).

As I was looking at pictures of Amy holding her sweet little one for the very first time, memories of holding Avery for the first time came flooding back to my mind. Maybe it's the hormones, but I couldn't help but cry as I shared in her joy.

Oh, the indescribable feeling of finally holding your child for the first time! There's nothing on earth like it...

Avery is God's gift of love to us. We waited and prayed for our sweet girl for so long. He heard our cries and wiped away our tears. God graciously gave us what our hearts longed for. What an overwhelming feeling. What an amazing God!

God spoke truth to me in a verse over and over again during the days before and after my Avery's birth. The same verse resonated in my soul again today as I remembered what God did for me, and what He has done for Amy:

Psalm 40:1
"I waited patiently for the Lord
He turned to me and heard my cry."

Simple words with a very important message. God is so good. So faithful.

I am beyond thrilled for you and your husband, Amy! Let the fun begin!

I'm here from a comment you left at Jackie's blog.

There is nothing quite like a new little one, is there? And, you are so right, our God is so good.

Jennifer, you are so thoughtful. We just came home with him and are still in awe we have a son and he is sitting in our living room. For all those nights of crying, praying, hoping, wondering and waiting, God has delivered our one heart and hope's desire. Thank you for taking the time to acknowledge our little miracle.

I remember you wanting to have little Avery and then you telling us (Linda and me) in your room that you were pregnant one afternoon. That was so exciting and an answer to prayer!
